Over the weeks at, NHS Help Desk. I have been hard at work to complete tasks and challenges to create a website which you are on, using Weebly.com. Firstly I did an application review for the, Windows PC and Mac devices called, Camtasia which allows you to record your screen and then edit and add effects, then upload it to YouTube. I personally thought that this application would really help teachers that would want to connect with their students when they are not in class/school. Teachers could post solutions to homework problems or examples of how to do certain subject questions and how to answer them.
I completed the app review on the 17th of September on how to get the app and why you should get it for educational purposes. The review also included the details of price, features, interface and links to get to the web page of the app.
About me was included in my website and that included facts and information that could allow the visitor of the website to get to know more about me and what i have done/do in my spare time. This allowed me to be more open and tell my story where usually I wouldn't have done. There were some guidelines that I had to follow which made making the, about me page a lot more difficult to complete but in the end it made the page look a lot more professional and more informative.
My help desk teacher, Mr. Tobin set the class a set of technological challenges which we had to complete in small teams of, two or three people. In the first week of challenges myself and Nathan were set the challenge of getting an image from, Google Images that had text on it. Next we had to solve the problem of turning that .JPEG (picture) image into a .TXT (text) document. We found a website called, OnlineOCR.com which took the image that had text on it and converted it any of these three formats: Word document, Exel document or a Text document.
What is great about extracting text from an image is, you can take a quote from an image from google or pinterest (for example) and make it into a text document you can edit and add to.
Next we had to then go onto, Google docs and then convert a PDF image file into an editable .PDF file. Myself and Nathan completed this task in 45 minutes or so and was fairly easy to complete with a bit of research and hard work to find the correct process of completing this task.
Together myself and Nathan worked well and completed the task in no time at all and had a good experience at the same time
